Altar Servers

Servers have a special ministry in the Church.  It is their privilege to assist the Priest at the Altar.  Servers not only serve Mass, but also makes themselves available for other services.

Being a Server means serving God and his people at Mass.  Altar Servers are fortunate to have been chosen by God to give service during the celebration of the liturgy.  The role of the Altar Server is very important because he/she is one of the closest persons to the Altar and to the Priest representing Jesus Christ during the celebration of the Holy Mass and the administration of the Sacraments.  The conduct of the altar server is a very important because he/she is expected to show due reverence to God at all times.

Younger Altar servers meet every first Monday of the month at 6.00 pm to learn how to perform their functions in a correct and orderly manner.

If you attend Mass at St Columbkille’s and would like to volunteer to join our Altar serving team, then please contact us.
