• Welcome to St. Columbkille's Catholic Church Rutherglen

    • Welcome to our parish website which we hope you will find to be informative about our church and the life of our parish community.

    • HISTORY

    • The present church building was opened in 1940 to replace the first St Columbkille's Church which was founded on the same site in 1851.

    • Our Parish Vision

    • We aspire to be a welcoming and faithful Eucharistic community, serving the Lord, spreading the truth of his Gospel, and helping all to respond to God's Universal call to holiness, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Parish Group Focus: St Vincent de Paul

We are a group of people working in St Columbkille’s parish to help all in need. We meet on Monday evenings to pray and to plan our work, with Fr Pat’s guidance. We receive donations from the parish members to support our work. The work can include: distributing food bags, furnishing homes, assisting with electricity and gas card top-ups and many other works of love. Our Diocesan Council has three caravans available for holiday for those who would benefit and we also operate a Gift Tree scheme at Christmas where specific gifts are given to children of those we work with. If you would like to join us in this work, please speak to one of our priests.
