Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life.” But to experience eternal life here and now one must believe in Christ, because faith unites us with him and he is that life. The raising of Lazarus was not just meant to console his sisters but to serve as the symbol of the presence of eternal life in the person who believes in Jesus Christ.
