23rd Ordinary Sunday

Deacon Bill’s Gospel Reflection for the 23rd Ordinary Sunday of Year C

Careers, family, possessions, friends are all part of the home we create to give ourselves security in our ever changing world. But sometimes without realising it, we create for ourselves a home that can become restrictive rather than life-giving. To free ourselves we need to distinguish what we need from what we want; sort out relationships that are life giving rather than draining for oneself or others; respond to challenges rather than settle for what is easy and comfortable. When we do this, we become a person who ‘lives life to the full’ rather than someone who survives life.
