• Welcome to St. Columbkille's Catholic Church Rutherglen

    • Welcome to our parish website which we hope you will find to be informative about our church and the life of our parish community.

    • HISTORY

    • The present church building was opened in 1940 to replace the first St Columbkille's Church which was founded on the same site in 1851.

    • Our Parish Vision

    • We aspire to be a welcoming and faithful Eucharistic community, serving the Lord, spreading the truth of his Gospel, and helping all to respond to God's Universal call to holiness, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Urgent Request for Readers at Mass

Due to holidays and ill health, we are having a shortage of readers at Sunday Masses. If you feel that you can contribute to our services in this way, please contact one of the clergy or phone Jim Gallagher on 647 1626 – or drop your contact details into the green box at the back of the Church. Training and support will be provided.

We are fortunate to have a group of volunteers who assist the clergy by delivering the Readings and Bidding Prayers at daily and Sunday Mass, and by contributing to other services throughout the Liturgical Year as required. Being a Reader allows you to serve the Lord and the Parish community and may also help you to gain a greater knowledge and understanding of the Bible.
