Retreat for Parish Ministry Groups

The life of our parish community is enriched by the active ministry of many people who enrich the liturgy at Holy Mass by acting as as Passkeepers, Altar Servers, Readers, Eucharistic Ministers and contributors to our Music Ministry.  We are most grateful for all they do.

On the morning of Saturday 16th September we are asking ALL members of these groups to gather with our parish clergy for a time of prayer and reflection on how we are called to offer assist the liturgical celebrations in our parish.  The Retreat will begin at 10am Mass in the Church and will continue thereafter in the Parish Hall until 12.30pm. During this time we will PRAY together, LISTEN to what the Church expects of us and DISCUSS some of the steps we can take to enrich our parish liturgy.

This meeting is OPEN TO ALL WHO WISH TO KNOW MORE ABOUT ANY OF THE PARISH MINISTRIES. PLEASE MAKE TIME FOR THIS PARISH MINISTRY RETREAT.

Our [parish] communities, when they celebrate the Eucharist, must become ever more conscious that the sacrifice of Christ is for all, and that the Eucharist thus compels all who believe in him to become "bread that is broken" for others, and to work for the building of a more just and fraternal world.  Keeping in mind the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, we need to realise that Christ continues today to exhort his disciples to become personally engaged: "You yourselves, give them something to eat" (Mt 14:16). Each of us is truly called, together with Jesus, to be bread broken for the life of the world.
- Pope Benedict XVI, 'Sacramentum Caritatis'
